Magic is divided into four categories: Innate, Learned, Ritualistic, and Religious.
Innate Magic
Toven are the only Innate magic users in Amaret, which displays itself destructively. Innate magic is present from the beginning of the Toven's life, and they must learn to control the natural furies within their being. Innate magic is often emotionally driven, usually when the caster is angry or irritated.
Toven know a select amount of spells, all of which they have gained the utmost proficiency with. Each Toven's spell list is unique to that Toven, both in the way it was learned and which spells have been granted upon them.
Learned Magic
Venaar are the only spell casters who learn their magic. They are quiet and studious. Venaar have learned to mix superior defense and devastating attacks. They learn their magic from books, but most of their magic is stored inside small crystals, as is the ability to learn a spell.
All Venaar know their spell repetoire with their memory, and can learn new spells with the crystals, or Krists. These crystals are mined in special caves that sometimes break the earth after a powerful spell has been cast in that place. Knowledge of various spells are engraved magically into the Krists, which allow the Venaar to retrieve the knowledge and permanently affix it in his memory.
Ritualistic Magic
Shamans and Shifters use Ritualistic magic, which combines complex rituals with iron will. Ritualistic magic often is powered by the forces of nature, and displays itself differently depending on the region in which the user dwells.
Shifters become what they are using a complex ritual, sometimes which can last for weeks on end. They transform themselves into a flickering shadow of a being, combining many aspects of nature in one single being.
Shamans use rituals to cast most of their spells, to the aide of nature and the vengeance upon its destroyers. Shamans differ strongly depending on the element they control. Fire shamans are rash and moody. Water shamans are calm and serene. Earth shamans are strong and forceful. Air shamans are swift and dexterous.
Religious Magic
Denaar and Priests are both wielders of Religious magic. Through their faith they are granted weapons with which to destroy evil, and healing to aid their allies.
Denaar use their magic to protect and serve their friends. This magic is granted to them to serve the greater good and be warriors in the name of light.
Priests are similar to Denaar in many ways, except their magic is less focused on fighting and more on healing.
